Will of Zachariah Stafford (384) 1723 (executed 1723)

In the Name of God Amen, I Zachariah Stafford of Laughton in the County of Leicest Grazier, do make this my last Will & Testament, in manner & form following that is to say, first I bequeath my soul to Almighty God in hopes of a joyfull Resurection, thro’ the Merits of Jesus Christ; & my Body to this earth do be buried at the discretion of my Executores hereafter named. Next I give & bequeath unto my loving Wife that Bed & all the Beding belonging to the same which was hers before I marryed her; & I give her one Cow which she shall have liberty to chuse out of all the stock of cows I shall be possesed of at the time of my death, I also give her eight pounds in Money to be paid her at the end of one year after my decease, I also give my Wife One iron pott my less or Brass Kettle & two chairs.
Item.
I give to my son in law Edward Bosworth ten shillings, & to my Daughter Knight’s three children five shillings each.
Item.
I give & bequeath unto my two sons Thomas Stafford & Francis Stafford my house at Westerby with all its Apertenances which I give unto them & their Heirs forever, they honestly paying and discharging the Debt or Mortgage which is now due upon the same.

I give all my houshold goods, except thos above disposed of to my loving Daughter Hannah Stafford, & I nominate & appoint my said Daughter Hannah my executor & my son John my executor joyntly, & to them, my said Daughter Hannah and son John, I give & bequeath all the rest of my stock in Cattle, & all my worldly substance whatsoever, & Revoking all Wills by me formerly made, I declare this to be my last Will & Testament this twenty ninth day of july in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & twenty three.

Will of Francis Stafford (192) of Ashley 1736 (executed 1750)

In the name of God Amen. I Francis Stafford of Ashley in the County of Northampton.
Being of perfect mind and memory thanks be to god for it, and therefore calling to mind the mortality of my Body, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die. Do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament. That is to say, principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the Hands of God that gave it, and for my Body I recommend it to the earth, to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner, at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall Receive the same again by the mighty power of God; and as touching such worldly estate, wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this Life, I give, devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form ------------

Sprimis
I give to my well beloved wife Mary Stafford the House wherein I now dwell with the shop, yard, out houses and all others its appertenences scituate standing and being in Ashley aforesaid, with all others of my goods and chattels whatsoever I give all to her for term of natural life. And I do hereby alow unto her (if need so require) to take money upon the house or to disposes of it as best seemeth good to her for the maintaining of bringing up of my own children and for the maintaining of her self while she continues my wife. but in case she be married to another man. I do not allow unto him to take money upon it or to sel or imcumbor the aforesaid house in any respect but it shall still remain for my own children after the death of my wife to be divided among them as she shall best think proper ----

Will of Mary Stafford (193) of Medbourne 1751

This is the last Will and Testament of me Mary Stafford of Medbourne in the County of Leicester Widow. I Give and Devise unto Josiah Hodgson of Medbourne aforesaid Gentleman and his heirs. All and singular my Messuages Cottages Clover Lands tenements and hereditaments whatsover and wheresoever and also all and singular my Goods and Challtels and personal estate whatsoever and wheresover and appoint him full an sole Esxecutor of this my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereofe I have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this twenty  fouth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty one.

Will of Thomas Stafford (96) of Medbourn 1795 (executed 1797)
 

In the Name of God Amen, I Thomas Stafford of Medbourn in the County of Leicester Yeoman, being weak in Body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be give to the Almighty for he same, calling to mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men, once to Die, do make constitute and appoint this and no other to be my last Will and Testament, in the following manner and form ?

Imprimis, I Give and Bequeath unto Thomas Stafford my son the sum of One shilling to be paid to him one year after my Decease ?

Secondly, I Give and Bequeath unto Francis Stafford, John Stafford and Joseph Stafford my Sons the sum of thirty three pounds each, to be paid to them, or their Heirs and afsigns One year after my Decease, and I like wise Give and Bequeath unto Judith Meadows and Mary Freestone my Daughters the sum of thirty three Pounds (each) to be paid to them one year after my Decease.

Thirdly, I Give and Bequeath unto Wilson Stafford my Son the sum of thirteen pounds, to be paid to him one year after my Decease.

Fourthly, I Give and Bequeath unto Elizabeth and Mary Freestone Daughters and my daughter Mary Freestone aforesaid all my Household Goods, Chattels and Moveable Effects to be Equally Divided between them after my Decease.

Lastly, I constitute and appointe Francis Stafford my son  sole Executor by this my Will and Testament ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last, In witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and seal this Twenty seventh day of March in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven hunded and ninety five.

Will of Wilson Stafford (48) of Ashley 1835

In the name of God, Amen. The first day of June One thousand eight hundred and thirty five. I Wilson Stafford of the parish of Ashley in the County of Northmaptonshire Wheelwright and Carpenter being of sound mind memory and understanding do make this my last Will and Testament at the same time utterly revoking all former Wills made by me declaring this to be my last Will and Testament ? First I give and bequeth to my son William Stafford or his heir the sum of Five shillings to my son Francis Stafford, the sum of Ten pounds to my son John Stafford the sum of Ten pounds to my son Thomas Stafford the sum of Ten pound of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid by my executor out of my dwelling house twelve months and one day after my decease. Also I bequeath to my son Francis my weaving ?  Also I give and bequeath such household furniture and money I have at my deacease to be equally divided amongst my four sons namely Francis ? John Samuel Thomas And lastly after all my just debts are paid I give and bequeath the whole rest and residue of my estates whether real or personal and everything I am possessed of whatsoever to my son Samuel Stafford of the Parish of Ashley. At the same time I do appoint William Garris Senior Butcher of Ashely to be my trustee of this my last Will and Testament to which I have hereunto set my had seal this first day of June One thousand eight hundred and thirty five.

Will of Thomas Stafford (48-CJ) of Ashley 1899 (executed 1899)

This is the last will and testament of me Thomas Stafford of Ashley in the County of Northampton Grazier  I revoke all former wills made by me and appoint my Nephews William Proctor Stafford and John Stafford (hereinafter called "my trustees") to be the executors and trustees of this my will I give all my furniture and other household effects unto my trustees upon trust to premit my wife Jemima Stafford if she shall think fit to have the use and enjoyment of the same during her life she keeping the same in good repair and condition and insured against loss or damage by fire and subject thereto I direct that the same shall fall into and form part of my residuary estate next hereinafter bequeathed I give devise and bequeath all my estate and effects both real and personal and whatsoever and wheresoever not hereby otherwise disposed of unto my trustees upon trust that my trustees shall sell???? In and convert into money the same or such part thereof as shall not consist of money and shall with and out of the money provided by such sale calling in and conversion and with and out my ready money pay for my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and shall invest the same residue of the said moneys in any of the investments allowed by law for trust funds and shall stand possessed of the said residuary moneys hereinafter called "the said residuary trust fund" In trust to pay the income thereof to my said wife during her life and from and after her decease in trust to pay or apply the income thereof to ??? the maintenance and benefit of my son Francis Stafford during his life by weekly monthly quarterly or such other payments and in such manner as my trustees shall in their absolute discretion think fit and without power of anticipation and from and after the decease of the survivor of them my said wife and son In trust to pay and divide the said residuary trust fund and equally between all the children of my brother Wilson Stafford who shall be living at my decease and have attained or shall attain the age of twenty one years to whom I bequeath the same accordingly  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twenty ninth day of March One Thousand eight hundred and ninety nine ?
