Yesterday we visited Towneley Hall in Burnley. It is owned by the Council and therefore would have been relatively cheap if we had not been members of Historic Houses Association.
The hall has undergone significant renovations over the last few years and there were various displays explaining what had been done.
From the top end of “The Avenue” with the main entrance.
From on high it may not be obvious but there are seemingly still repair going on as the side door was boarded over.
The estate was very busy, not least because of an Easter funfair near the way in from the town. There are several car parks and there were lots of cars and people though not all that many going round the house. You will see from the final photo that one of the children’s playgrounds was empty.
