'Mr J A Stafford of Oakwood Road, a well-known figure in the Springfield district, died on January 2 from injuries suffered in an accident in Stratford Road.  He was 80.'

'Birmingham police today appealed for witnesses of the two fatalities in the city.
Mr John Alfred Stafford (aged 80) of 10 Oakwood Road, Sparkill, was crossing Stratford Road, near Formas Road, Sparkill on Saturday, when he was in collision with a Corporation bus and died on his way to hospital.'

'On January 2 1960 as a result of accident John Alfred beloved husband of Chrissy.  Service St. Christopher's Springfield, Friday January 8 at 1.25pm.  Cremation Robin Hood at 2pm.  Flowers for hospital please.'
