We visited Harewood House whilst staying at Knaresborough. Unexpectedly there was a Doll’s House so that has also been added to the website.

We discovered that fairly recently the current Early decided that the name should be pronounced “Hare’ rather than the traditional “Har”, to avoid confusion.

The books in the library were somewhat obscured by displays about television programmes and films. However, I was able to discover from the guide that there were three libraries in the house (we passed through the others later) and that in total there are about 12,000 books in the house, though not all are on display.

There was also a rather fine desk which is also obscured by people standing in the way!
