The second of the 100 Best Stations on our East Anglia trip was Norwich Station. We had visited Norwich Cathedral some years ago but I regretted not having taken a particular picture and so we made a return visit.

As can be seen, Maurice Wood was Bishop of Norwich and an evangelist. (The quotation is from the second letter of the Aposlte Paul to Timothy, chapter 4 verse 5.)
When I was working for Church Society Maurice was a member and though I wrote various letters to him I regret that I never thought to mention when I first met him.
In October 1980 he was speaking at the Northgate Hall in Oxford. Through the work of this ‘evangelist’ the Lord opened my heart to believe the gospel and trust in Christ.
Maurice was also (in my not entirely humble opinion) the last truly conservative evangelical to be appointed as a Diocesan Bishop in the Church of England. That is now fifty four years ago.
