Identity of Samuel Cox


When Alfred Cox (10) was married his father was given as Samuel Cox, a moulder. Alfred was resident in Wright Street (Bordsley).
Alfred was apparently with his parents, Samuel and Elizabeth in 1861 and 1851.
Moreover, his age and birthplace from the censuses are consisten with his birth in 1844.
The Birth certificate gives his parents as Samuel Cox and Elizabeth Cox, formerly Brookes of 48 Rea Street.
Thus the identity of Samuel therefore seems reasonably certain.

From the censuses it would appear that Samuel was born about 1799 in Rowley Regis and there is a suitable baptism to Joshua and Mary Cox.
